Like any large organisation the administration of Freemasonry is split in to regions, in fact we call them Province's.

Although the Lodge of Expatiation is based in Christchurch Dorset it comes under the administration of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Province. The reason for that is when in 1974 county borders where altered it was felt that it would not be cost affective or indeed desirable to change.
